Help
This site is currently under construction, but help will be coming soon.
However if you are experiencing any issues, either leave a comment here or try the following.
- If a link doesn’t send, try once more.
- If a new tab appears with QR code on it, then you need to install the chrometophone app for Android
- If you get a parse error on your phone, then you are not using Android 2.2 a.k.a. Froyo
Only Android 2.2 handsets are enabled to use FoxToPhone.

Hey FoxToPhone!
Love the concept, but I can’t find the app in the Market. I’m using a European HTC Desire running Android 2.2. Is the app only available in the US? If so, why?
Thanks,
Lars

Lars,
Google have only submitted Chrome To Phone to the Android Market for certain English speaking countries as more locales have not been added yet, however they are planning on doing so.
In the meantime you can download the latest APK from http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone The version number is slightly different however its the same code.

I use FoxToPhone and love it : )
Is there any chance it will be integrated with the “Send Link…” menu item in the “File” menu?

Any chance of a PhoneToFox one, though?

Whenever I try to use Fox To Phone 1.1, I get redirected to the Fox To Phone site and it displays a 404 error. Any ideas why this is happening?
The 1.0 version worked for me previously although recently it started to give me 500 errors and now I get this error with the 1.1 version

Sorry, the new page was marked as private. I’ve enabled it as it provides some hints to deal with the status 500 errors: http://www.foxtophone.com/error-500/

Fox To Phone doesn’t seem to work with the Firefox 4.0b4, at least not with the german localized version. Add-on is installed, but Settings don’t work and i cannot see any fox to phone stuff in context menu’s or somewhere else..

Great addon! foxtophone works fine for me through context menus but the toolbar button doesn’t appear. the button isn’t available in toolbars > customize menu either. I remember seeing it the very first time after I installed but can’t get it to show up now. I’m running, ffx4.0b4, foxtophone 1.1.1, OSX 10.6, english version,

Unfortunately ChromeToPhone is only available on Android 2.2 and above. To the best of my knowledge the HTC Wildfire is only 2.1

The mozilla addons site: “https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/161941/” says that the addon works up to Firefox 4.0b6pre. I currently run 4.0b5 and get the message that the addon is not supporting my version of firefox.
Any change for a fix?

Please, read the contents of that page in order to understand why you might be having that message.
The message is sent by the server and we don’t have any extra info, so you should try all the things that are listed there.

Love Fox to Phone, but does it (or Chrometophone) offer a way to review a log of the text/links sent?
alfonso
27/09/2010 at 13:53
We don’t plan to add a log specific to Firefox, and think that it’s better to have a central system

I am having problems with the speed and reliability of FoxToPhone. I have the Chrome2Phone app installed on my HTC Incredible, Stock 2.2. I am running Firefox 3.6.8.
On 3G or WiFi, it takes about 30-60 seconds, if at all, for the link to start opening on the phone.
alfonso
13/10/2010 at 19:56
Sometimes people have those kind of problems (and even greater lags), but that’s something that it’s outside our control, we just send the data to a Google server and afterwards they take care of the delivery and we can’t change anything about that.
Some days I get the link in my phone even before the notification pops up in the computer, and other days it takes some time.

Hi
Great plugin
I have some trouble on OSX though. I am using Firefox 4 beta6 and I don’t get neither the phone icon in the navigation bar or the send to android when right-clicking. It works fine on my work computer running linux and firefox 4 beta8
Is that something that you are aware of?

Thanks again for a great plugin. I still prefer firefox especially because of firefox sync

Has the webserver account permissions to read & execute the file?
Are you using Apache or IIS?

Fox 2 Phone stopped receiving anything on my droid2 last week, so I force closed & cleared data. This helped, but now I get the fox2phone messages TWICE on my phone, every time. No amount of uninstalling/reinstalling/force closing/data clearing/signing out/etc has fixed the issue. Granted, it’s better than not getting anything, but I’d like to fix it.

I just installed Firefox 4.01. The Fox To Phone icon has disappeared. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled and it still won’t appear. Right click context menu still shows it, but no longer next to the URL/Search Bar as it was before.

I discovered how to get the icon icon back. I had to use “customize” and drag it back to where I wanted it.
alfonso
12/05/2011 at 19:32
The icon should have remained in its place, but I guess that you found some bug in the upgrade to Firefox 4 (yesterday I had to debug an computer were Firefox wasn’t able to load anymore after the upgrade, even in safe mode. A new profile fixed the problem)
I’m glad that you’ve fixed your problem and that you have come back here to write the solution for anyone else.

How can i send a link to another phone?
I have two phones and want send the link to my second phone…
How can i do this?
alfonso
23/06/2011 at 16:39
If both phones are yours and you have installed the ChromeToPhone apk in both with the same Google account, then I think that currently you should get the notification in both of them.
But I don’t have two phones to test with.

Hi there,
I’ve been using your fantastic add-on for a while, but have just upgraded to FF 5.0 and it’s not working anymore ïŒ
Is there an update or any idea when this will work in FF 5.0?
Many thanks,

If you are using Firefox in Chinese then there’s a problem with the translation in the last release. I’ve uploaded right now a new beta that should provide the correct texts and as soon as anyone confirms that now it’s OK I’ll push it as a stable version.

29/08/2011 at 16:34
So far we have found that this can be related to a bad configuration of the time zone/ day time savings in the clock of your OS. Check this post: http://alfonsoml.blogspot.com/2011/08/is-your-clock-adjusted-correctly.html
If you still get the error even if the page states that the clock settings are correct, then we would need to try to find out whats wrong with your XP

I tried the Barcodes available on the main Android App sites and they end up with a file not found or similar message
Pls help!

For some strange reason the app hasn’t been made available for all countries (officially it’s related to lawyers), so if your country isn’t whitelisted you can’t install it. Anyway, there’s at least two other apks created from the open source code and they are available for all the countries in the market

Hi. I’m trying to get this to work. The idea seems amazing, however:
No links or text appear on my phone no matter what I do. My laptop tells me that the link has been sent, and both my laptop and my droid are connected to my google account, but my phone just sits there, idle. No information or links ever appear. I have tried to disconnect and reconnect the account several times.

These last days it seems that the service has been suffering a few bumps and didn’t work correctly so you can try again today or tomorrow.
Also, check with the Chrome extension so we can rule out that it isn’t an unknown bug in our code.
Thanks for your patience.

I really would like a chrome extension similar to the firefox one, so that i can send files as well through my browser using the extension and the PHP code on my server.
alfonso
06/12/2011 at 19:05
You can try to ask for it to the developers of the Chrome version, but I wouldn’t count on it: they haven’t provided any feedback to all the people having login problems, the app isn’t available in lots of countries, the extension doesn’t include several of the features that we have added for Firefox…
That’s basically the difference between using Chrome and Firefox, with Chrome you’re restricted to whatever Google provides, but with Firefox you can find extensions that do things that no one expected.

Dear Development
I am using FoxToPhone on my Galaxy Nexus with ICS (android 4.0.1).
Everytime when I try to send the clipboard content (text) to my phone, the app crashes
sending a URL works fine.

Yes, the Android app doesn’t work correctly in ICS, but we are developing only the Firefox extension.
