Error-500
You have reached this page because FoxToPhone has encounter an error at the server.
There are several reasons about why this might happen (and other that we are not aware of).
First one, is a temporary problem with the server. You can’t do nothing about this, just wait a few minutes and retry again.
If you still haven’t installed the Android apk in your phone, and registered it with the same account that you are trying to use with FoxToPhone, then you will get also this error. The solution is to install and configure the ChromeToPhone apk with the same account that you are trying to use. You can logout in the FoxToPhone extension using the context menu on the toolbar button.
It can also happen if you are trying to send a very long URL to the phone, you can check if it works with something simpler.
Other reported reason is that the phone has lost the connection. Personally I’ve never seen that situation because whenever the phone is without connection the messages are queued and they are send when the connection is restored. Of course it could happen that you are storing more messages than the expected limit, so please, check that your phone has a data connection.
The last known reason is that the data of the app has become invalid, for example if you has was flashed a new ROM over an existing ROM without wiping it first. This leads to unpredictable behavior with many apps. In this case there are three options:
- In the ChromeToPhone App, click the “Unregister device” button and then register it again.
- If that doesn’t work, close the app, clear its data and then start over again.
- As a last resource, you might need to wipe your device and reflash the ROM image.

Toolbar icon and context menu entries are gone since the update to version 1.1. In addition the options menu is broken.

FoxToPhone is broken in german FireFox!
Solution:
In the extension directory go to chrome\locale\de and change the encoding of the overlay.dtd to UTF-8. Take care that the umlauts are correctly encoded.

Enabling third-party cookies solved this problem for me.

If you have third party cookies disabled try adding “chrometophone.appspot.com” with an allow status in the settings.

Thanks for the info Robert.
I thought that we did add some code to deal with it, but something might have changed in Firefox.
I’ll review the new version with 3rd party cookies disabled, although now it shouldn’t matter as no cookies are used (specially with the latest changes that we’ll release as a new beta soon)

I have used this program a number of times and it worked great. Now I try to use it and get this error 500 thing. I uninstall it and re install and it does the same thing. I think I probably used my other email address when trying to use it today but I can not find any place to put the gmail address in. This is rather frustrating. I have tried it a number of times on different pages and get the same results-error 500

Any chance a version that will work on Android 2.1 will ever appear?
Seems it will be awhile before (if ever) our provider pushes out a 2.2 upgrade.
Thanks.

Sorry, but the “Cloud to Device” functionality is only available since Android 2.2. Anyway, there are other tools aimed at older versions of Android that you can use.

We did tried to state clearly in every introductory page like https://www.foxtophone.com/about/ that the Android APK is a basic requirement.

It asked me which account to use for Google, and I answered with the WRONG account. So, now it will no longer ask me, and it won’t work. So, what should I do??

RIght click on the toolbar button and select “logout”. That should be enough, next time it will ask you to login again.

Hi,
Unfortunately I cannot install application on my phone (Samsung GT-i5700 with Android 2.1) from QRcode link – this one placed in the right side of your website under the tag ‘Scan To Install App’.
There is information, that it is not possible to find requested resource… Something wrong with address?
My phone told, that QRcode is pointing at:
market://details?id=com.google.android.apps.chrometophone
This is also not possible to find ChromeToPhone or FoxToPhone (I’m using FF) by the standard way – via Market (app is not accepted yet by the big brother?)… Pity…
Best regards,
T.R.

The app does work (as well as the extension)
The fact that you are unable to even request help explaining what’s your problem and what you have tried so far, speaks a lot about you.

First I thought it didn’t work for me either but as soon as I unlocked the screen lock on my phone, all the links have arrived at the same time. It works OK when the screen is not locked, although I still get the error 500 message. It is kind of strange.
